A collar that's looked after lasts years. These are fabric stitched onto nylon, so they ask for the same as a garment: not much, and by hand.
Washing
- By hand, in cold water with a mild soap.
- Use a soft brush for dried mud.
- Rinse well and air dry, out of the sun.
What not to do
- Washing machine or tumble dryer: they distort the webbing and punish the stitching.
- Bleach, harsh stain removers or hot water.
- Ironing directly on the fabric.
The first wash
Some fabrics bleed a little the first time. It's normal and it doesn't happen again. Wash the collar on its own that first time.
Check the hardware
Every now and then, check that the buckle closes with a firm click and that the D-ring has no play in it. They're metal parts and they hold, but a collar is safety equipment: if something has given, write to us.
Salt water and chlorine
A swim does no harm, but rinse it with fresh water afterwards. Salt and chlorine dry the fabric out over time.
